FAQs

What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions are semipermanent extensions, where an individual synthetic lash is placed on your natural lash to accentuate your eyes, and make them pop! Since they are adhered individually, they look more natural than strip lashes. It replaces the need for mascara, and shortens the time of your daily routine.

How long does it take to get a full set?

Depending on what you’re going for (Classic, Hybrid, or Volume), anywhere from 2-3 hours. Regular touch-ups are much shorter and range from 1-1.5 hours.

Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

No, they do not. What damages your natural lashes is improper technique, and poor training. When proper technique is used, you can get lash extensions for an indefinite amount of time. I take pride in using proper technique, placement, and correct length for each client’s lashes.

Can I wear makeup to my lash appointment?

No. You’ll want to show up to your appointment with clean skin and no eye makeup. That means no eye shadow, mascara, or eyeliner. Dirty lashes will affect how your extensions look, and can result in bad retention.

How do I maintain my extensions?

Wash them regularly (see question below), brush them with your wand once a day (provided at your appointment). Do not brush them while wet. Do not pick or pull on them, this can result in damage over time. Avoid rubbing your eyes. Sleep on your back, or if you’re a side sleeper like myself, put your face on the edge of the pillow. Book a touch-up appointment regularly (every 2-3 weeks), to keep your extensions looking full.

Do I need to wash my lash extensions?

Yes, yes, a million times yes! Lash extensions must be washed at least three times a week, or more if you are a regular eye makeup wearer. Washing your extensions helps with retention, and keeps dirt, oil, and debris from getting stuck in your lashes or eyes. Failure to wash your lashes can result in irritation, poor retention, or worse, an infection. So please, wash your lashes! Watch how I wash my lashes here.

Can I wear mascara with extensions?

No. The purpose of getting extensions is to not wear mascara. You can wear mascara on your lower lashes. If you are in between touch-up appointments and have a gap where your extensions used to be, a careful and light application of mascara in the bare area is ok. But please make sure to wash it off before your appointment. Any residue on your natural lashes will result in the extension not being able to adhere to your natural lash. Also, if you do put mascara on your extensions, you risk breaking them off when trying to remove the mascara residue from your extensions. So all in all, please don’t wear mascara on your extensions.

Can I get them wet?

Yes you can. How else will you wash them? Don’t be afraid. Wait 12 hours before getting in the shower to ensure the lash adhesive has cured.

Is there formaldehyde in lash adhesive?

No there isn’t. This is a myth that has been floating around for the past eight years. Cyanoacrylate is the main building block in all lash extension adhesives. The way cyanoacrylate is created does start with formaldehyde as an ingredient. However, once the adhesive has gone through its full process, the formaldehyde is gone. Any adhesive distributed by European, Canadian, or American lash companies do not source adhesives with formaldehyde in them. At the same time, latex based strip lash glue does have formaldehyde as a preservative! These are the glues you can find in any drug store across the U.S. in the makeup aisle. So it could be safe to assume, that people automatically think since it's in strip lash glue, it must be in lash extension adhesive. Which is not the case.
